Augustus Brown Architects is known for reimagining retail and art spaces, as well as high-end residential projects and interiors. They work extensively across London and the UK but also have an international reach, having completed projects in Montenegro, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Hong Kong. The studio has an emphasis on designing highly personalised spaces, addressing function in innovative ways to create environments that are a pleasure to be in.
Combining unusual materials and form, we are equally skilled with contemporary design as we are with buildings of great historical importance. Through our experience and knowledge of historic buildings, we are listed in the RIBA Conservation register.
Our practice is founded on great relationships with our clients. Rather than having a house-style, we listen closely and use our diverse design and practical experience to tailor our skills to our client’s needs, creating unique and uplifting spaces. From a light-flooded entertaining space, to a restful and elegant study, to an engaging retail environment, we focus on breaking down the complexities and opening up the full potential of the building and its context for our clients.
Augustus graduated with a first class honours degree and went on to study a masters in Architecture at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. Nominated for the RIBA Bronze medal, he worked for various leading practices in London before setting up Augustus Brown Architects in 2009.
He has a passion for innovative use of materials, simplistic elegance, and a hands-on approach. He has as much design experience as he has in implementing and project managing construction. He's equally at home creating a compact modular display system that's been used for 20 international art fairs over the last 6 years, as he is designing and implementing a 12,000 sq/ft retail space or a highly personalised family residence.
